i want to be

August 15, 2008

serialcomma.net inspired me to go over the details of my life so far. She writes so honestly and it is at this point that I want to drop everything, cut work and go to a coffeeshop or somewhere private and just let her words wash over me, maybe some of her recommended tunes singing softly in my ears,

tell her

woke up slowly today, k and I have been playing taboo over at jo’s (happy birthday, btw:D) and before drifting to sleep we played that animal mineral kind of game. the goal is to guess what the other person is thinking, mine being cats and bookstores, and her thoughts on very specific marbles and math notebooks. i know i should have slept as soon as possible, since this day is bound to be an ot day, but i was amazed at how the connection exists, willing her to think of something inside the room just by saying it over and over in my head: cheesegratercheesegrater

tell me a story

August 11, 2008

c’mon, tell me a story. make it about fairytales and embroidered books, with found items here and there and fabric for the images. how perfect is that?

the collages by karine leger (karineleger.ca) are truly inspiring. The elements are richly textured and gives off that quiet thoughtful vibe. It’s what I dream of glancing at when there’s some moody music at the background, like azure ray or the album leaf.

Also, from galadarling.com, here’s a link to an interview with one of my favorite authors, francesca lia block:

It’s also wise, early on, to seek jobs that let you do many different things, so you can learn faster what various kinds of work are like. Conversely, the extreme version of the two-job route is dangerous because it teaches you so little about what you like. If you work hard at being a bond trader for ten years, thinking that you’ll quit and write novels when you have enough money, what happens when you quit and then discover that you don’t actually like writing novels?”

having 3d words in front of your face is pretty cool. must be distracting after a while, though. oh the camwhorageability!

changes

August 4, 2008

thanks to kate for this new blog:D

so far, lj’s still blocked, so i might transfer here for the meantime. my dream is a blog as pretty as that of galadarling (galadarling.com) or jennyvorwaller (jennyvorwaller.com/blog), but unfortunately i don’t have a digicam. that means that until i get a digicam or something of that sort i’ll be posting pics of things that i love. *glee*

These wooden collaged pieces by Kirsty McIntosh combine all of the elements that make me swoon:

Birds, matryoshka dolls, houses, giraffes and elephants (!)

Would look cute inside a kid’s room. Or mine.:D
